A seminar was held at the Conference Center in Hammamet, Tunisia, to introduce the programs and modules of the International Computer Driving License (ICDL) Certificate, as well as the (E-Learner) program for teaching computer skills. The seminar was organized by Specto Computer Skills Company, the national operator of the ICDL in Tunisia and a number of Arab countries, in cooperation with the ECDL Foundation.
The seminar was attended by a number of representatives from private and public universities and leading institutions in the republic, such as the Ministry of Higher Education, the Executive Office of the National Union of Industry and Trade (UTICA), the regional chambers, and the Private Training Institution.
The seminar was opened by Mr. Nabil Anoubel, member of the Executive Office of the National Union of Industry and Trade (UTICA), with a speech about the importance of the program in the industry and trade sector and the cooperation between the National Chamber and Specto Computer Skills Company. This was followed by a speech from the Ministry of Higher Education on the importance of improving computer skills. The results of a field study conducted by Specto on the level of computer skills among higher education students in the Tunisian Republic were presented, in cooperation with the following universities: University of Sousse, University of Jendouba, University of Gafsa, University of Sfax, and University of Tunis El Manar.
Ms. Amal Dimashqi, Business Development Manager for the Arab Region, ECDL Foundation, gave a presentation on the ICDL program and success stories around the world. This was followed by a speech by Professor Dr. Ahmed Abu Hejja, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Specto, welcoming the guests and giving a brief overview of the development of the ICDL program in Tunisia, Jordan, Sudan, Palestine, Yemen, Mauritania, Morocco, Somalia, and Djibouti.
The seminar included an introduction to a number of leading ICDL programs in the field of computer use in various fields, including Project Planning, Image Editing, Online Collaboration, and IT Security. It also included the development of computer skills for children (e-learner), which has been tested and evaluated in the best private schools in different countries.
At the end of the opening ceremony, Professor Dr. Ahmed Abu Hejja and Ms. Amal Dimashqi honored some national institutions and universities for their role in supporting the ICDL program.
