Despite poor economic and education conditions in Mauritania, youth literacy rates
have noticeably increased in the last few years. Specto® embarked on the ICDL
accreditation project to serve the need for ICT skills development in the Mauritanian
society. Specto® contacted Abdullah Bin Yacin University to introduce the new ICDL and
explained its benefits and the great impact it will have on the students. After several
months of correspondence and planning, Specto® managed to accredit Abdullah Bin
Yacin University to be the first ICDL Center in Mauritania. Specto® team assisted the
university in equipping their labs in adherence to the international standards.
Workshops were held afterwards for the ICDL Center staff to train them on Specto®
ICDL Administration System and Automated Tests System. The University will be using
Arabic and French tests and courseware provided by Specto®.
Students in Mauritania are eager to receive an international certification which reflects
a great potential for ICDL penetration in Mauritania.
