The ReTour project team from Specto and the Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST) held a coordination meeting with the Amman Chamber of Commerce to discuss the project's implementation roadmap in Jordan and explore opportunities for joint cooperation to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) operating in the tourism sector.
During the meeting, the project team reviewed the ReTour project's objectives and international partnerships, along with its key activities and expected outcomes. The project focuses on supporting small and medium-sized tourism companies in the Mediterranean region and enhancing their ability to adapt to future challenges and changes.
The ReTour research study, which involves data collection and analysis, was also presented. This study aims to identify common risk factors, measure digital maturity levels, and understand the needs of tourism companies in the areas of resilience and digital transformation.
The team explained that the study's findings will contribute to the development of the Innovation Hub platform, the implementation of pilot projects with a number of targeted companies, and the design and implementation of training and capacity-building programs in the project's partner countries. The study will include specialized interviews, focus groups, and research questionnaires targeting 30 to 40 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) from diverse tourism sectors, including hospitality, travel, transportation, restaurants, tourist services, and related activities.
This initiative is part of the ReTour project's efforts to strengthen collaboration between academic institutions, the private sector, and tourism support organizations, contributing to the development of a more sustainable and innovative tourism environment in Jordan and the Mediterranean region.
The ReTour project is funded by the European Union under the Interreg NEXT MED program.
