Specto held its annual retreat for ICDL teachers at the Crown Plaza Hotel, Dead Sea on 24 November
2022 in recognition of their efforts throughout the year to successfully implement the ICDL program.
The retreat included a seminar on Digital Skills in Schools. Over 100 principles and teachers attended the
seminar representing the elite private schools in Jordan. ICDL Europe manager, Linda Keane talked
about the shift in occupations by 2030 and the need for digital skills to succeed in those jobs. She also
explained the update in the ICDL modules which includes the most in-demand trending skills needed for
the future.
Russell Pengelli, the manager director of Computers4Kids demonstrated the different lessons in the e-
learner program that include digital skills integrated with other subjects like math, science, robotics and
coding. The e-Learner program is designed for all school levels and offers a creative and enjoyable
content for students to learn the trending digital skills.
Becky Lemaire, a product manager at the British Computer Society talked about the Teaching Teachers
Tech program which is developed by teachers for teachers and designed to improve and update
knowledge in Python programming to teach at GCSE standard.
During the seminar, Specto talked about the importance of the Robotics modules for school and
explained the complete solution it offers for schools in collaboration with ZOE Smart Systems to assist
the schools in endorsing the program smoothly.
Specto shed light on success stories shared by outstanding students from ICDL accredited schools
reflecting the positive impact of ICDL skills on their studies and personal lives.
Finally, the Chairman of Specto, Professor Ahmad Abu El Haija, handed plaques and recognition
certificates for ICDL schools and teachers for their remarkable performance in the delivering the ICDL
programs.
